Ladismith area – Western Cape: These positions offer an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for dairy farming and animal health


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Agricultural Diploma.
  • Dairy management experience.
  • Great stockmanship.
  • Strong record of management skills.
  • Ability to AI (Artificial Insemination).
  • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Dairymaster for data entry and performance monitoring.
  • Valid driver’s license.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • A genuine love for dairy farming and animal welfare. A deep respect and care for our dairy cows are non-negotiable.
  • Good communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as part of a rotating schedule.
  • A strong desire to grow in the dairy industry, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and progress to higher management levels.
  • The ability to be self-reflective and take full responsibility for his/her actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Manage a team of 13 staff members in and around the milking parlour – including supervision of working hours, training, conflict management, and leave planning.
  • Perform AI as part of the herd’s breeding program.
  • Administer injections, treat sick animals, vaccinations, drips, and general health management – including hoof care.
  • Assist with births and calving, as well as aftercare of cows and calves.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the milking parlour.
  • Manage milk tanks, including cleaning, transfer, and proper storage of milk.
