Job Purpose

Department of Agriculture Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render a secretarial support service to a senior manager(s). The successful incumbent must be willing to travel when required.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification) plus an accredited secretarial diploma and/or administrative qualification on the level of NQF level 5 or relevant higher tertiary qualification; A minimum of 3 years experience in rendering secretarial/ administrative support services to management/ senior management.

Key Performance Areas

Provide a secretarial/ receptionist support service to the manager; Render administrative support services; Provide support to the manager regarding meetings; Support the manager with the administration of the manager’s budget; Studies the relevant Public Service and departmental prescripts/ policies and other documents and ensure that the application therof is understood properly.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Relevant legislation / policies / prescripts and procedure; Basic financial administration; Ability to run and maintain a record management system; Procurement of goods and services; Ability to properly record minutes and decisions at meetings; Advance knowledge of relevant software packages. Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Communication skills (written and verbal); Report writing (submissions and letters); Planning and Organising; Research and analytical skills.

Remuneration

R 338 106 – R 398 277 per annum (Salary level 7)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
