Overview (Looking for both Mid and Senior individuals for two roles)
We are seeking a Workday Financials System Architect / Analyst to join a Finance Technology Platforms team supporting a complex, high-growth organization Global organisation. This role sits within a team responsible for enabling Finance to deliver its objectives through Workday-led system ownership, continuous improvement, and finance transformation initiatives.
You will play a key role in the configuration, support, optimization, and evolution of Workday Financials, including Workday Adaptive Planning, while working closely with Finance stakeholders, implementation partners, and vendors.
This is a hybrid role, offering exposure to enterprise-scale Workday environments and ongoing transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Workday Application Ownership & Support
- Provide Application Management Support (AMS) for Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning, including:
- Incident and problem management
- Release and regression testing
- End-user support and training
- Creation of user guides and online help documentation
- Vendor and partner coordination
- Configure and maintain Workday Financials modules, with a focus on:
- Financial Accounting
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
- Accounts Payable
- Expenses
- Manage user access, roles, and security within Workday and connected finance systems.
Finance Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Support Finance Transformation initiatives, including:
- Enhancements to Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning
- Process re-engineering and optimisation
- Control design and assessment
- Policy and operating model development
- Process automation opportunities
- Partner with Finance stakeholders to:
- Gather requirements
- Analyse data and system behaviour
- Translate business needs into Workday solutions
Integration & Ecosystem Support
- Support and understand integrations between Workday and surrounding systems (e.g. P2P, expenses, payments, planning).
- Work alongside integration platforms (e.g. iPaaS / low-code tools) and third-party vendors to ensure data accuracy and operational resilience.
- Maintain a strong understanding of finance system integration patterns and data flows.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate clearly and confidently with Finance, Technology, and external partners.
- Know when to escalate, seek guidance, and return with well-structured recommendations.
- Deliver well-defined, task-level work while maintaining a high standard of quality and ownership.
What We’re Looking For Essential
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Workday Financials, either as a system analyst, architect, or functional consultant.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning (implementation, support, or enhancement).
- A recognised financial qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Practical experience in operational finance areas such as:
- Accounts Payable
- Procure-to-Pay
- Expenses
- Strong understanding of finance systems architecture and integration approaches.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
- Ability to:
- Identify issues
- Perform root-cause analysis
- Design and propose effective system or process solutions
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into business-friendly guidance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with:
- VBA or SQL
- Low-code or iPaaS integration platforms
- Administration or support of systems such as Workday, Adaptive Planning, Coupa, Zip, or Emburse
