Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

About Us

Laygro is a growing structural steel and construction company based in Pretoria, specialising in the fabrication and installation of structural steel, architectural steelwork, and commercial construction projects. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations from drawings and specifications.
  • Measure quantities and compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Price tenders and assist with tender submissions.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Procure materials and manage supplier relationships.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and cost reports.
  • Identify and price contract variations.
  • Prepare payment claims and subcontractor valuations.
  • Monitor project costs and profitability.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate project and procurement records.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
  • 2–5 years' relevant experience.
  • Experience in the construction or structural steel industry will be advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and structural drawings.
  • Good understanding of tendering and procurement processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with structural steel projects.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction contracts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.
