Job Title: Front of House Assistant / Duty Manager

Location: Cape Town, SA

Reports to: General Manager / Operations Manager

Hours/days of work: 45hrs per week, varying shifts based on roster

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

As our Front of House Assistant / Duty Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our property, ensuring guests feel welcome, operations run smoothly, and our team is supported across all departments.

You’ll combine front-of-house responsibilities with operational oversight, helping us maintain standards, efficiency, and a positive work environment.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Oversee front-of-house operations, including guest check-ins, check-outs, and daily service.
• Be the main point of contact for guests, handling requests, feedback, and complaints professionally.
• Welcome VIP guests and ensure special requests are met.
• Support and supervise front-of-house, housekeeping, maintenance, and F&B teams.
• Assist with staff scheduling, task allocation, and shift coordination.
• Inspect rooms daily to ensure housekeeping and maintenance standards are met.
• Manage stock levels, linen orders, and operational supplies.
• Handle cash floats, reconcile transactions, and prepare shift reports.
• Keep public areas clean, tidy, and welcoming.
• Follow health, safety, and security procedures; respond calmly to emergencies.
• Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of senior management, leading by example and promoting teamwork.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Experience in Front of House operations (2+ years preferred).
• Previous supervisory or operational experience is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable attitude.
• Time management and prioritization skills, with attention to detail.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering memorable guest experiences.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
