Overview
We are seeking a meticulous Translation Project Assistant to be the final eye for accuracy, clarity, and consistency across our client deliverables. This role is ideal for graduates with exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication skills who are motivated to pursue a career at a global language service provider. In this role, you will be responsible for the final quality assurance step before the deliverables are submitted to client. Previous experience in quality assurance is welcome but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Rigorous Quality Control Checks of Deliverables: Verify correct methodology and client information is captured in translation certificates and translation deliverables. Ensure specific client requirements in file naming, file properties and file types are followed.
- Non-linguistic Translation Quality Review: Perform final, non-linguistic checks on a variety of translation deliverables from the life sciences domain. Ensure adherence to glossaries, reference files and client instructions. Review and fix formatting and layout of the final deliverables. Ensure files are entirely finalised for delivery and that no unresolved issues are present (such as internal comments, formatting errors etc.)
- Monitoring Compliance: Monitor that previous quality steps were performed to the highest standard and report on recommended improvements as needed.
- Style & Standards Management: Maintain and update internal style guides, and QA checklists to ensure consistency across teams and projects.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance translation workflows, tools, and efficiencies. Monitor clarity and consistency of production instructions and take a proactive role in improving processes.
- Collaboration: Provide constructive feedback to production and linguist teams to further improve quality of deliverables.
Experience & Skills
- Strong attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to catch errors and inconsistencies while meeting project timelines.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English. Strong interpersonal skills for providing clear, actionable feedback to other team members.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly with MS Excel and MS Office) and Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with reference management, version control, or content management systems is an advantage. Willingness to learn new technology for quality improvement.
- Time Management Skills: Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working to tight deadlines.
- Quality Control Expertise: Experience in quality control, proofreading or translation is welcome.
- Process Mindset: Experience contributing to or improving QA workflows or SOPs in a team environment is welcome.
Desired Skills
- Previous experience in the translation industry is welcome but not required
- Knowledge of a foreign language would be an asset
- Experience using AI tools would be an asset
- BA or higher education would be an asset
