We are the future of heart failure remote patient monitoring, having created an automatic, AI-supported, non-contact telemonitoring solution to help heart failure patients stay out of hospital by detecting worsening of their symptoms an average of 13 days ahead of a heart event.

The Opportunity

We are looking for reliable, highly observant and detail-oriented Image Annotator Consultants based in South Africa to provide part-time, remote annotation services.

This opportunity would suit someone who is comfortable working independently, is confident using technology and has access to their own suitable computer equipment, stable internet connection and private home-working environment.

As an Image Annotator Consultant, you will help develop and refine our AI algorithms by reviewing and annotating images captured by Heartfelt's non-contact monitoring technology in accordance with detailed annotation guidance.

Consultants may provide annotation services relating to the same devices or datasets over time to support consistency and quality. Your work will directly contribute to the development of technology designed to improve care for people living with heart failure.

Full training will be provided.

Services Required

• Accurately review, annotate and label images in accordance with Heartfelt’s guidance and quality standards.
• Review and validate annotations to support consistency and accuracy.
• Identify unusual or unclear data and raise queries where appropriate.
• Respond constructively to quality feedback and complete any required corrections.
• Communicate clearly with the Heartfelt team and report technical or data-quality issues promptly.
• Maintain the strict confidentiality, privacy and security of all patient and company data.
• Follow all applicable data-protection, information-security and access-control requirements.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who:

• Has exceptional attention to detail and can maintain accuracy during focused, repetitive work.
• Is reliable, organised and able to meet agreed deadlines.
• Is confident using computers, browser-based systems and online communication tools.
• Has strong written and spoken English.
• Can read, understand and consistently follow detailed written instructions.
• Is comfortable asking questions when information is unclear.
• Can work independently while communicating effectively with a remote international team.
• Has a stable and secure internet connection.
• Has access to their own suitable computer and a private working environment.
• Can maintain concentration and consistency across extended periods of detailed work.

Preferred Background

Previous experience in image annotation, quality assurance, healthcare, medical sciences, technology or a related field would be helpful, but is not essential.

Applications from graduates in areas such as computer science, engineering, biomedical sciences, healthcare, mathematics, statistics or other analytical disciplines are welcome.

Independent Consultant Arrangement

This is an independent consultant opportunity, not an employment position.

Successful consultants will be responsible for:

• Providing their services on a self-employed or independent contractor basis.
• Submitting accurate invoices in Pounds Sterling GBP for approved services.
• Managing and paying their own income tax and any other applicable taxes, registrations, contributions or statutory obligations in South Africa.
• Maintaining any registrations or records required to operate as an independent consultant.
• Providing and maintaining their own computer equipment, internet connection and suitable working environment.
• Ensuring they have appropriate backup arrangements for internet or power interruptions.

No employee benefits, paid leave, pension contributions or other employment-related benefits are provided.

Consultants may provide services to other clients, provided this does not create a conflict of interest or compromise confidentiality, availability, data security or the quality of the services provided to Heartfelt.

Expected Volume of Services

We anticipate a regular volume of annotation work being available throughout the week. Initially, successful consultants should expect approximately 3 hours of available work per day, with the potential for this to increase to around 6 hours per day as demand grows.

We are seeking consultants who are generally available to provide services on approximately five days each week. Consultants are free to determine when they complete accepted work, provided it is completed by the required daily deadline and meets Heartfelt's quality standards.

Consultants are under no obligation to accept work offered, and Heartfelt is under no obligation to offer a minimum volume of work.

Data Security

Because the work involves sensitive patient-related data, successful applicants will be required to:

• Sign confidentiality, data-protection and intellectual-property agreements.
• Complete information-security and data-protection training.
• Use approved secure systems and authentication methods.
• Keep their device secure and inaccessible to other people.
• Avoid downloading, copying, retaining or sharing data unless expressly authorised.
• Report any suspected data or security incident immediately.

Selection Process

Applicants who meet the basic requirements will be invited to complete a practical annotation assessment. This assessment is the primary basis on which consultants will be selected and is designed to evaluate attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to follow written instructions.

Pay: R140,00 - R190,00 per hour
