Full job description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth and expanding the company's distribution network by identifying, signing, and onboarding new motor dealerships. The role focuses on establishing and maintaining strong relationships with dealership principals, dealer management teams, F&I managers, and sales staff to promote and grow the sale of the company's insurance and non-insurance products.

The successful candidate will actively support dealerships through training, product education, sales initiatives, and ongoing relationship management to ensure sustained production and profitability. The position requires regular engagement with dealerships to identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and implement strategies that increase product penetration and customer uptake.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new motor dealerships into the company's distribution network.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with dealership owners, dealer principals, F&I managers, and sales teams.
  • Promote and support the sale of insurance and non-insurance products across the dealership network.
  • Conduct regular dealership visits, training sessions, and product presentations.
  • Assist dealerships with sales strategies, product implementation, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor dealership production and implement action plans to improve sales performance where required.
  • Ensure dealerships comply with regulatory, operational, and company requirements.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends within the motor industry.
  • Provide regular sales and activity reporting to management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
The Business Development Manager's performance will primarily be measured on:

  • The number of active dealerships within their portfolio.
  • The number of insurance policies generated monthly by the dealership network.
  • The number of non-insurance products sold monthly by the dealership network.
  • Growth in premium income and product penetration across the dealership portfolio.
  • Retention and ongoing productivity of dealerships within the network.

Territory and Area of Responsibility:
The Commission based ONLY role is not restricted to a specific geographical area. The Business Development Manager may engage and onboard dealerships nationally, provided the dealership is not already allocated to or serviced by an existing company representative or forms part of the current dealership network.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or relationship management within the motor, insurance, warranty, or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations and F&I environments.
  • Excellent negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong focus on achieving sales targets and business growth.
  • Ability to work independently and travel extensively when required.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and training skills.
  • OWN reliable transport is compulsory for the application

Pay: R15 000,00 - R100 000,00 per month
