The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a business-led initiative, in partnership with government and labour, that creates meaningful economic opportunities for young people and helps address South Africa's youth unemployment challenge.
Through this 12 month programme, successful candidates gain valuable workplace experience, develop practical skills, and build a strong foundation for future career growth. This role offers an excellent platform to learn, contribute, and make a meaningful impact while gaining exposure to a broad range of Human Resources practices in a dynamic business environment.
- Support the recruitment process including job posting, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
- Assist with the onboarding of new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming induction experience.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Maintain accurate HR records and assist with HR administration tasks.
- Assist in preparing HR reports and analysing data to support decision-making.
- Support the implementation and use of people technology systems and tools.
- Collaborate with experienced HR professionals to learn best practices and develop practical skills.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and employee experience.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and labour legislation.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.
- A recently completed degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in developing a career within Human Resources and gaining practical workplace experience.
- Basic understanding of recruitment processes and employee lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn HR information systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take initiative.
- Knowledge of South African labour legislation and compliance is advantageous but not essential.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to learning and personal growth in the HR field.
Our Group is committed to creating, embracing, and preserving a diverse workplace that values the unique talents, perspectives, backgrounds, and abilities that enrich our organisation. A place where everyone matters and feels included.
We are committed to Employment Equity when recruiting internally and externally.
