Do you have what it takes to manage one of the busiest event venues in Cape Town’s hospitality industry?

At Rooftop on Bree we’re hosting upwards of 20+ events a month from luxury weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations to headline launches with some of the country’s biggest brands.

This role isn’t just about event-day execution, it’s sales, client emails, detailed planning, and back-to-back hosting, all in a six-day-a-week, high-performance environment. Not for the faint-hearted, but perfect for someone who thrives under pressure and loves creating world-class experiences.

Salary: R25,000 - R40,000

Location: Rooftop on Bree, Cape Town

Schedule: Full-time, 6-day work week, including evenings and weekends

About the Role

We’re looking for a vibrant, well-spoken, and charismatic Sales & Events Manager with a natural flair for sales, client relations, and event execution & venue management. This role is integral to ensuring a seamless and unforgettable experience for our clients, from the initial inquiry to the final event. Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Sales

  • Respond to inquiries via email, phone, and WhatsApp with warmth and professionalism.
  • Conduct venue viewings, effectively showcasing the space and services.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions.
  • Craft compelling proposals, quotes, and invoices while proactively upselling additional venue services.

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Guide clients through the entire planning process, ensuring clarity and confidence at every stage.
  • Manage event logistics, from supplier coordination to timeline scheduling.
  • Oversee orders, deliveries, and venue setup, ensuring everything aligns with client expectations.
  • Work closely with vendors, caterers, entertainers, and technical teams to guarantee smooth execution.

On-Site Event Management

  • Lead event setup and execution alongside the operations team.
  • Be the primary point of contact for clients on the event day, ensuring a flawless experience.
  • Troubleshoot any last-minute changes or challenges with professionalism and efficiency.

Venue Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day venue upkeep, ensuring the space is always guest-ready.
  • Manage bar stock levels, liaising with suppliers and tracking consumption.
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are consistently upheld.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to maintain equipment, décor, and overall venue functionality.

What We're Looking For

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5+ years in event management, hospitality, or a related sales/client-facing role.
  • Proven experience in handling high-end corporate, private, and social events is a plus.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - confident, articulate, and persuasive.
  • Strong sales ability, with proven experience in upselling, closing, and negotiating deals.
  • Proactive business development mindset, able to spot new opportunities and convert leads.
  • Client-focused approach, ensuring a seamless and premium experience at every touchpoint.
  • Highly organised, with strong multitasking skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Operational oversight, including bar management, stock control, and supplier coordination.
  • Financial acumen, with an understanding of event budgets, cost control, and profitability.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, tackling last-minute changes with composure.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, adapting quickly to meet client needs.
  • Leadership capabilities, motivating teams and managing multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Hands-on management style, willing to step in and support operations where needed.
  • Strong presentation skills, comfortable showcasing the venue during client viewings.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, keeping events fresh, innovative, and competitive.
  • Commitment to excellence, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Comfortable working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of event planning software, bar POS systems, invoicing tools, and CRM systems is advantageous.
