Job Advert Summary

Support the smooth and efficient operation of the Clover Café, Pause Areas and Functions by assisting with the preparation and presentation of food, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and ensuring all areas are welcoming, well-organised and ready for employees and guests. Provide hands-on support during functions and events, while contributing to a positive dining and hospitality experience that reflects Clover’s high standards and commitment to service excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF4
• Business English: Fluent
• Computer literacy (Basic)

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of food and maintain housekeeping

• Prepare food according to orders for customers
• Maintain hygiene standards (personal and work area)
• Deliver food/beverages to meeting rooms
• Maintain housekeeping
• Replenish stock as required
• Maintain good relations with all staff members
• Manage the cashier duties
• Ensure orders/items are processed accurately
• Ensure customer payment is accurate
• Assist in keeping pay till points clean and tidy
• Assist in keeping dining room, sauces stations and coffee stations clean
• Assist to clean coffee machines in the mornings, fill up coffee machines, sugars, cups, teaspoons and check regularly during the day
• Assist to clean and fill up sauce bottles, salt and pepper canisters
• Call Centre Tuck Shop - prepare food and pies in the morning. Make sure all resale items and products for Rations fridge are issued from the Shop to Gateview
• Call Centre Tuck Shop - Ensure the daily issue sheet is completed, stock is counted in the mornings and afternoons, sales are recorded and money must balance
• Call Centre Tuck Shop - Ensure stock rotation is done, and stock expiry dates are monitored.
• Call Centre Tuck Shop - Record all damaged stock
• Call Centre Tuck Shop - Food orders for the next day must be sent to Manager: Clover Cafe by no later than 15:00pm

Assist with quality, health and safety control

• Adhere to Health, Food & Safety Rules when performing duties
• Effectively adhere to the cleaning schedule
• Assist with deliveries for Bread, Fruit and Veg - verify stock against invoice and order form, practice FIFO (First In, First Out) procedure
• Report Injury on Duty to management immediately
• Ensure effective reporting of faulty equipment i.e., fridges and freezers

Assist with inventory control

• Functions - all food and drinks issued must be recorded accurately on function booking sheet
• Cutlery and Crockery register must be recorded for all functions
• Functions - Food and Beverages must be delivered on time to the correct venue
• All food for functions must be garnished and well-presented
• Cleaning of venue must be done after the function/meeting has ended
• Any food item running low must be reported in order to prepare more and to inform customers if the menu item is not available
