Job Description & Purpose:

We are looking for a Product Assembly Lead to lead and strengthen our product assembly process, ensuring consistent build quality, predictable throughput, and a safe, well-run assembly environment. This role is hands-on and team-oriented. You will coordinate daily assembly activities, guide a team of 4 to 8 assemblers, and ensure that tasks are completed to standard with the right tools, parts, and documentation in place.

The Product Assembly Lead will work closely with Operations, Quality, and Field Support to ensure products are assembled, tested, and prepared for delivery in line with project schedules. While this role is focused on assembly, there is room for growth and cross-training over time as the organisation continues to scale and professionalise its manufacturing and delivery systems.

If you are reliable, structured, and enjoy leading practical work that directly improves patient experiences across South Africa and the region, then Technovera might be your new home. If you are skilled and interested in working for a tech-enabled scale-up operating at the intersection of Access to Quality Healthcare, Digital Technology, and Social Impact, then Technovera might be your new home.

Quality Control and Testing Discipline:

  • Conduct daily quality checks at defined stages of assembly, ensuring build quality, correct fitment, correct wiring, and general workmanship.
  • Verify completed builds against defined requirements and document test outcomes, defects, and corrective actions.
  • Escalate recurring issues, component defects, or quality risks early and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all required assembly, testing, and sign-off documentation is completed accurately and stored correctly.

Inventory, Materials, Tools, and Workspace Management:

  • Support toolbox checks, basic audits, and reporting of damages, losses, or safety concerns.
  • Keep the assembly area clean, organised, and consistently ready for production work.

Packaging, Handover, and Delivery Readiness:

  • Lead packaging and preparation of completed products to ensure safe transport and clean handover to the next phase (delivery or installation support teams).
  • Compile and maintain delivery manifests and handover documentation, ensuring traceability of what was built and what was shipped.

Reporting, Communication, and Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Provide daily reporting with clear outputs, photos where required, key blockers, and parts or quality risks.
  • Communicate consistently with the Operations team and other stakeholders using agreed routines and channels to ensure alignment and fast issue resolution.
  • Support planning and coordination with other teams when assembly schedules connect to installations, maintenance, or special projects.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure safe working practices in the factory, including PPE discipline, tool safety, basic electrical safety, and incident reporting.
