Position Overview

Ultra Waste Management is looking for a reliable, responsible and flexible Driver & Pest Control Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be based in Polokwane and will be responsible for the collection and transportation of healthcare/medical waste from clients throughout Limpopo, depending on the company’s collection schedules and client requirements.

The position will also involve occasional travel to Johannesburg for medical waste collections and other operational requirements.

In addition to waste collection and driving duties, the employee will be trained to perform pest control services at medical practices, offices and other client premises. Pest control duties will be performed between waste collection activities and as required by the company’s schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Waste Collection & Transportation

Collect healthcare and medical waste from clients in Polokwane and throughout Limpopo according to the company collection schedule.
Safely load, secure and transport healthcare/medical waste in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Complete waste collection documentation, manifests and other required records accurately.
Transport collected waste to the designated disposal/incineration facility.
Travel to Johannesburg, Gauteng, when required for medical waste collections or other company-related duties.
Perform daily vehicle checks and report any mechanical, safety or maintenance concerns.
Keep the company vehicle clean and in good condition.
Ensure the vehicle is safely parked at the designated company warehouse after use and collected from the warehouse before the next working shift.
Follow all road safety, waste-handling, health and safety procedures.

Pest Control

Receive company-provided training in pest control procedures.
Perform pest control treatments at medical practices, offices and other client premises when required.
Follow all safety procedures when handling and applying pest control products.
Complete pest control service records and documentation.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when working at client premises.

General Duties

Represent Ultra Waste Management professionally when dealing with clients.
Assist with loading, unloading and other operational duties where reasonably required.
Be willing to travel within Limpopo and occasionally to Johannesburg.
Be flexible with working schedules depending on client requirements and collection routes.
Carry out other reasonable duties related to the company’s waste management and pest control operations.

Minimum Requirements

Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the company vehicle.
Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Previous professional driving experience.
Experience driving commercial vehicles will be an advantage.
Previous experience in waste collection, logistics, healthcare waste or a similar environment will be an advantage.
Must be physically fit and able to perform loading and unloading duties.
Must be reliable, punctual and responsible.
Must have a responsible driving record.
Must be willing to undergo training in pest control.
Must be willing to travel throughout Limpopo and occasionally to Johannesburg.
Must be flexible regarding working hours and operational requirements.
Good communication and customer-service skills.
Ability to complete basic documentation accurately.
