Accelerate Your Career

At Monocle, we believe work is more than a job. It is a chance to make a difference in the world of finance. An opportunity to fulfil your potential. To make friendships with ambitious, positive, likeminded people. To gain invaluable industry experience and learn critical skills that will make you a highly sought-after management consultant.

Monocle is a people-centric, independent consulting firm, specialising in banking and insurance. We understand that our greatest asset is our people and because of this, we do things a bit differently.

Monocle is looking for experienced Data Analysts to join our team. As a Data Analyst at Monocle your role will be to help banking and insurance clients make data-driven decisions. You will be required to clean, analyse, and interpret large datasets to produce actionable insights, reports, and dashboards that support strategic and regulatory initiatives. The role combines technical data skills such as SQL, Python, or reporting tools, with business analysis, engaging directly with clients to understand their needs and translate them into analytical solutions.

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Solving complex industry specific problems.
  • Transforming raw data into meaningful insights through analysis, visualisation, and storytelling.
  • Supporting financial and regulatory reporting by ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Identifying market, operational, and financial trends to guide business strategy.
  • Conducting business analysis and requirements gathering: engaging with clients, understanding business problems and translating them into data requirements.
  • Working with software and programming skills such as SAS, SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar tools to support decision-making.
  • Partnering with business, finance, technology, and risk stakeholders to translate data into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making.

The successful candidate needs to have:

  • A degree, with strong preference for a post graduate qualification.
  • Technical certifications and/or professional qualifications such as CFA and/or FRM (advantageous).
  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics in banking or consulting.
  • Hands-on experience with software and programming skills such as Python, SAS, SQL, or other analytics tools.
  • Finance, risk, and regulatory compliance knowledge (banking)
  • Ability to turn complex data into simple compelling narratives.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a natural curiosity for making sense of numbers.

Monocle offers:

  • Unlimited training and development - Investment in our people's development is at the heart of Monocles company ethos. That is why we prioritise the upskilling of every employee.
  • Unparalleled growth and exposure - Monocle is uniquely positioned in the market to undertake projects across a wide spectrum of critical and exciting areas of the financial services industry. Our consultants deliver mission critical projects at the most prestigious banks and insurers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, London and Amsterdam.
  • Unique and vibrant company culture - At Monocle, we believe friends work better together than colleagues. We love nothing more than partaking in a wide variety of activities through our company sponsored clubs.
  • Ultra-competitive compensation - At Monocle, we want the best talent to join our team, so we understand that those individuals need to be recognised and rewarded for their true value.
