Data Science Intern jobs

As a Data Science Intern at Zlto, you will gain practical experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support business decisions and improve user experiences across our platform. You will work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to uncover insights, develop data-driven solutions, and contribute to projects that create meaningful impact for youth across Africa.

This internship is designed as a stepping stone into a Junior Data Scientist or Data Analyst role and is ideal for someone who is passionate about data, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and social innovation.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & Learning

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and preparing data for analysis.
• Support the creation of dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
• Analyze user, operational, and platform data to identify trends and insights.
• Learn and apply statistical and analytical techniques to solve business problems.
• Assist with data validation and quality assurance processes.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to understand data requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, sprint activities, and project discussions.
• Support research initiatives and data-driven decision-making processes.
• Present findings and recommendations in a clear and understandable manner.

Data Tools & Technology Exposure

• Python
• SQL
• Jupyter Notebooks

Data Visualization:

• Power BI
• Tableau (advantageous)
• Google Data Studio / Looker Studio

Data Science & Machine Learning:

• Pandas

Cloud & Data Platforms:

• AWS (basic awareness expected over time)
• Data storage and database fundamentals

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Essential

• Studying towards or recently completed a qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis concepts.
• Basic programming knowledge in Python and/or SQL.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
• Demonstrated interest in using data and technology to drive social impact.

Pay: R5 500,00 per month
