About The Role

Team – Membercare - Life

Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Sandton Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

What this role is all about:

We're looking for an experienced Care Life Associate to deliver a high standard of customer service across both telephone and written channels, supporting customers throughout the claims process. The role is responsible for obtaining and managing the documentation required to assess claims, ensuring accurate and timely claim decisions while meeting agreed service standards and turnaround times. Working closely with clients and third parties, the Care Life Associate provides regular updates on claim progress, maintains clear and professional communication, and offers proactive support to ensure a positive customer experience throughout the claims journey.

Key Actions

  • Deliver a high standard of service through both telephone and written communication with claimants and external stakeholders, including doctors, financial advisers, solicitors and reinsurers
  • Review initial claim requirements and provide administrative support throughout the claims lifecycle
  • Set up and process benefit payments and medical report fees accurately and within agreed timescales
  • Notify reinsurers of claim details and ensure all information is recorded correctly
  • Administer unemployment claims in relation to waiver of premium benefits
  • Prepare and issue claims documentation in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Refer claims to management, forensic specialists and the Chief Medical Officer when specialist review or guidance is required
  • Maintain accurate claims records and support the production of claims statistics and management information reports

What do you need to thrive?

  • Secondary education or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 1 year's client services experience within the life insurance industry
  • Previous experience within a UK insurance environment, ideally 2 years or more
  • Working knowledge of long-term insurance products and claims processes within a UK regulatory environment
  • Experience supporting the administration of long-term insurance claims
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills when dealing with customers and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively within established procedures while delivering a high standard of customer service
