Job Title: DTP / Designer

Job Summary:

A company based in Springfield Park (Durban) in the Printing and Packaging Sector is looking for a talented and detail-oriented DTP / Designer to join their pre-press and design department. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and designing artwork for print and packaging, ensuring all files are production-ready, visually accurate, and aligned with client specifications. This role requires both creative design ability and strong technical understanding of print processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare artwork layouts for packaging, cartons, and various print materials.
  • Ensure all designs are print-ready, correctly formatted, and meet production requirements.
  • Adjust and adapt existing artwork as required for different substrates, die-lines, and print methods.
  • Collaborate with the Repro, Sales, and Production teams to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Check colours, fonts, images, and resolutions to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain proper file management, version control, and adherence to ISO documentation standards.
  • Assist in creating mock-ups, proofs, and visual presentations when needed.

Required Abilities:

  • Creative with a strong eye for layout, colour, and typography.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Able to multitask and manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Good communication and teamwork across departments.
  • Reliable, organized, and quality focused.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in DTP or graphic design for print or packaging.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
  • Understanding of die-lines, trapping, colour separations, and print specifications.
  • Knowledge of ISO and pre-press standards advantageous.
  • Own reliable transport essential.

Salary (CTC) depending on experience.

A creative, technically skilled, and dependable designer with a “can do” attitude who enjoys bringing ideas to life through print will excel in this role.
