Aryan Benevolent Home Council (ABH) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and professionally registered Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team. This role provides psychosocial support and case management services to older persons and adults with disabilities residing in our care facilities.
The successful candidate will be passionate about improving residents' quality of life, protecting their rights, supporting families, and promoting dignity, independence, and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychosocial assessments for residents.
- Develop, implement, and review individual care plans.
- Provide individual, family, grief, and crisis counselling.
- Manage resident case files and maintain accurate records.
- Advocate for residents' rights, dignity, and well-being.
- Facilitate admissions, family meetings, and care conferences.
- Investigate and report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- Coordinate referrals to internal and external service providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Facilitate support groups and psychosocial programmes.
- Liaise with hospitals, the Department of Social Development, community organisations, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, professional standards, and organisational policies.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on psychosocial care, safeguarding, dementia awareness, and resident rights.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).
- Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Minimum of 3–5 years' relevant experience, preferably in geriatric care, disability services, residential care, healthcare, or the non-profit sector.
- Sound knowledge of South African social welfare legislation and professional ethics.
- Excellent assessment, counselling, report writing, and case management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
