Residential Social Worker
Location: Ireland - Dublin City / Drogheda
Salary: €35,000 – €45,000 per year (DOE)
Contract: Full-Time, 48 Hours per Week (Day, Night & On-Call Shifts) – 1-Year Fixed Term
Holidays: 20 Days per Annum (Pro-Rata)
Reports To: General Care Manager

We are a residential social care and social work service supporting young people and young refugees across Ireland. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment and help residents build the skills, confidence, and support they need for positive futures.
The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Social Worker to join our team. You will provide direct support to young people in care, including young refugees, helping them navigate challenges and access essential services. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility to work in a 24/7 service (day, night, and on-call shifts) as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to residents.
- Develop and implement individualized care/support plans.
- Build trusting relationships to promote well-being, independence, and personal development.
- Support young people with life skills, education, healthcare, and community integration.
- Assist with securing accommodation and liaising with authorities.
- Advocate for young people and coordinate referrals to services and community organizations.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision sessions.
- Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and crisis situations.
- Follow fire safety, health, and emergency procedures.
- Provide basic medical support or first aid as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BA or Masters in Social Work
Additional Acceptable Qualifications:
- QQI Level 7 in Psychology
- QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
- QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Counselling / Psychotherapy
- QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Addiction Counselling
- QQI Level 7 in Youth and Community Work or similar
- QQI Level 7 in Social Science / Social Studies
- QQI Level 7 in Family Support
- Professional Qualification in Teaching (Not TEFL)
- Professional Qualification in Nursing Studies
- QQI Level 7 in Disability Studies
- QQI Level 7 in Applied Behavioural Analysis
- BA in Applied Policing or equivalent
Skills & Experience:
- Experience with young people in residential, care, or refugee support settings (desirable).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant Irish legislation.
- Familiarity with social work policies and community resources.
- Fluency in English (additional languages advantageous).
- Flexibility to work day, night, and on-call shifts in a 24/7 environment.
