Full job description

Role Purpose:

The Junior Energy Risk and Accounting Analyst will support the Energy Risk and Reporting team by assisting with financial analysis, accounting reconciliations, data reporting, and risk management processes. The role involves analysing energy market data, supporting monthly reporting cycles, and ensuring accurate and timely accounting records related to energy transactions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of daily, weekly, and monthly energy risk and accounting reports.

  • Support the reconciliation of energy trading positions, exposures, and financial statements.

  • Gather and validate market data for risk analysis and reporting purposes.

  • Assist with variance analysis between forecasted and actual results.

  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end accounting processes.

  • Support compliance and audit requirements by maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Assist in identifying and reporting potential risk exposures or anomalies.

  • Collaborate with finance, trading, and data teams to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and automation efforts within reporting and analytics.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Energy Studies, or Data Analytics.

  • 0–2 years’ experience in finance, risk, or accounting (internship experience accepted).

  • Basic understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, or energy market dynamics.

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and exposure to data tools such as Power BI, SQL, or Python advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
