Job Advert Summary

In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for Inventory Controller in the Procurement and Logistics Department.

This role is responsible to manage FIA (free in assemblies) and the investigations and resolution of inventory variances to support Production and New Model launches. This is achieved through:

  • Managing the supply of FIA suppliers,
  • Arranging stock counts at FIA suppliers,
  • Development of the FIA reconciliation to identify supplier claims,
  • Perform root cause investigations into inventory variances (FIA and on-site),
  • Resolve high value variances with FIA Suppliers,
  • Action FIA supplier claims and
  • Manage the re-order FIA buffer stocks to address to inventory losses.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Logistics, Operations, Finance and/or Supply Chain or related qualification
  • A Degree in Logistics, Operations, Finance and/or Supply Chain will be advantageous
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working experience in a manufacturing environment in a supply chain or logistics role
  • Proficiency in computer programs MS Excel Advanced, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Access
  • A valid driver’s license

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP especially MRP system
  • Knowledge of SABS/ Deloitte audit requirements
  • Sound knowledge of materials management
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively liaise with FIA Suppliers on all stock count results
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Flexiblity with the ability to adapt readily to the demands of the position

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Run-out activities
    • Perform investigations into root causes to queries and drive resolution.
    • Engage with support departments; Purchasing, Product Engineering, Supplier/ Plant Quality, and Production on providing support and solutions on problems encountered and act as a road block buster.
    • Co-ordinate run-out of FIA parts with FIA Suppliers
  • FIA Supply
    • Co-ordinate the on-time delivery of FIA material to Suppliers including system related movements in SAP;
    • Action and manage BP’s (break-points) at FIA Suppliers;
    • Follow up on no stocks with material controllers and provide feedback to Suppliers;
    • Investigate and resolve supplier related queries
  • FIA Inventory integrity
    • Align and manage inventory accuracy of FIA inventory as per BMS count requirements to align system to actual shop floor operation;
    • Perform reconciliation of counts and resolve queries
    • Perform Supplier visits and liaise with FIA Suppliers on all stock count results
    • Place replacement orders for CKD material after the inventory counts
    • Investigate, resolve and escalate inventory variances
  • Business Management System
    • Perform rotational audits as per the BMS audit schedule.
    • Close out all audit findings identified within area of responsibility.
