Job Purpose

The Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the Company's technology solutions, including WiFi infrastructure, real-time tracking systems, electronic devices, and related hardware and software. The role ensures systems are installed correctly, operating efficiently, and maintained according to technical standards while supporting both internal teams and clients.

Education, experience and competencies

• Matric and National Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related technical field.
• 2–5 years experience in a technical support or field technician role (Field service experience will be advantageous)
• Experience with WiFi systems, electronic devices, or networking equipment
• Experience with hardware installation and troubleshooting
• Medically fit for site visits and physically able to conduct inspections
• Valid Drivers License

Responsibilities

• Install and configure WiFi infrastructure, tracking devices, sensors, and related hardware.
• Perform site installations and commissioning of systems according to technical specifications.
• Mount and secure equipment, antennas, routers, and other infrastructure components.
• Conduct system testing after installation to ensure full functionality.
• Assist with network setup, device configuration, and system integration.
• Ensure installations comply with technical, safety, and quality standards.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on installed systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair hardware and system faults.
• Replace or repair damaged equipment and components.
• Ensure all systems remain fully operational and optimised.
• Perform firmware updates and system upgrades when required.
• Provide technical support to clients and internal teams.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues, device malfunctions, and system errors.
• Respond to technical queries and support requests in a timely manner.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the Technical Manager or senior technical team.
• Conduct functional testing of equipment before and after installation.
• Verify network connectivity, signal strength, and system performance.
• Ensure systems meet performance and reliability standards.
• Assist with quality assurance checks during deployment projects.
• Maintain installation records, service reports, and maintenance logs.
• Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
• Complete site visit reports and installation documentation.
• Ensure technical documentation is up to date and filed correctly.
• Represent the company professionally during site visits and client engagements.
• Provide basic system guidance and operational instructions to clients.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery.
• Communicate installation progress and technical updates when necessary.
• Maintain and manage technical tools, equipment, and stock.
• Ensure technicians have corrected components and equipment before attending sites.
• Report damaged, faulty, or missing equipment.
• Assist with technical stock control and inventory management.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations during installations and maintenance.
• Follow company and client policies and site safety procedures.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain compliance with technical standards and operational procedures.

Pay: R20 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
