This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys operational ownership, process improvement, and working within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

About the role

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the day-to-day finance function across multiple entities, supporting reporting accuracy, strengthening controls, improving finance processes, and supporting leadership with reliable financial information.

This role offers broad exposure across operational finance, reporting, systems, cashflow management, and business operations, with significant long-term growth potential within the group.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities
  • Review reconciliations, journals, and month-end processes
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records
  • Manage month-end close processes and reporting timelines
  • Prepare and review management accounts and reporting schedules
  • Assist with budgeting and rolling forecast processes
  • Monitor cashflow and working capital movements
  • Support debtor management and collections oversight
  • Review supplier payment runs and banking controls
  • Assist with payroll review and finance-related HR administration

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with SARS and statutory requirements
  • Assist with VAT, PAYE, EMP201, EMP501, provisional tax, and related submissions
  • Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls
  • Support annual financial statement preparation and audit requirements
  • Ensure finance processes remain accurate, scalable, and well documented

Systems & Process Improvements

  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Improve finance workflows, controls, and reporting efficiency
  • Work across systems including Xero, HubSpot, payroll systems, banking platforms, and collection systems
  • Assist in building scalable finance infrastructure as the group grows

Commercial & Operational Support

  • Work closely with leadership and division heads
  • Assist with financial analysis and operational reporting
  • Support decision-making with accurate and timely financial information
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience within a small-to-medium audit/accounting firm
  • Exposure to multiple clients/entities
  • Strong accounting and reconciliation experience
  • Exposure to SME or entrepreneurial environments is advantageous
  • Xero experience advantageous
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets capability
  • Exposure to cloud-based finance systems preferred

Education

  • SAIPA registered; or
  • SAIC articled / AGA(SA) / Newly Qualified CA(SA)
