Full job description

Position Overview

CTIA is looking for a skilled Graphic Designer to take ownership of the visual side of our brand. Working within our in-house Marketing team, you'll be our dedicated design specialist — responsible for concept, layout and final artwork across brand, print, digital and video, and for making sure everything CTIA puts out looks considered, consistent and professionally finished.

This is a design-first role. We need someone whose core expertise is typography, layout, composition and visual identity, and whose portfolio shows it. It is not a marketing coordinator, content creation or social media management position: the Marketing team will brief you on campaigns, and you'll bring the design thinking and craft that turns those briefs into strong visual work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand identity: Develop and maintain CTIA's visual identity across all touchpoints, including logos, brand assets, colour, typography and brand guidelines, and act as the custodian of brand consistency.
  • Campaign concepts and key visuals: Translate marketing briefs into original creative concepts and key visuals, then adapt them into cohesive campaign rollouts across print, digital, outdoor and social formats.
  • Print and editorial design: Design and lay out brochures, prospectuses, posters, flyers, magazine adverts and billboards in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, supply accurate print-ready artwork (correct colour profiles, bleed, resolution and specs), and liaise with printers and suppliers on production.
  • Illustration, iconography and infographics: Create vector illustrations, icon sets and infographics in Adobe Illustrator that communicate information clearly and stay true to the brand.
  • Image editing: Retouch, colour-correct and composite photography in Adobe Photoshop for use across all channels.
  • Digital and social design: Design high-quality social media, web and email graphics, and build branded Canva templates that let the wider team produce on-brand content quickly without compromising standards.
  • Video and motion: Edit promotional videos, reels, TikTok and YouTube content in Adobe Premiere Pro, including basic motion graphics, titles and transitions, using footage captured on phone or camera.
  • Design workflow: Manage multiple projects from brief to final artwork, present concepts and incorporate feedback, and keep design files well organised and archived.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a closely related design discipline (essential)
  • Minimum 2–3 years' professional experience in a dedicated graphic design role, within a design studio, advertising agency or in-house design team
  • A strong portfolio of original work demonstrating concept development, typography, layout and brand work across print and digital — applications without a portfolio will not be considered • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; experience with Adobe After Effects will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of Canva, including setting up and managing brand templates
  • A solid command of design fundamentals: typography, grid systems, visual hierarchy, colour theory and composition • Sound knowledge of print production and prepress, including CMYK and Pantone colour, bleed, resolution and supplier specifications
  • An excellent eye for detail and a consistently high standard of finish on final artwork
  • Valid ID, driver's licence and clear criminal and credit check
  • Own transport

What We're Looking For

A specialist graphic designer with strong conceptual and technical skills — someone who thinks visually, sweats the details of type and layout, and takes real pride in the quality of their work. You'll understand how design supports marketing goals, but your strength and passion lie in the craft of design itself. You should be confident working independently across a range of formats, and able to present and explain your design decisions.

Working Arrangement

This role is based in Stellenbosch. For the first 6 months, the expectation is 4 days on Campus and 1 day working from home per week. After 6 months, this shifts to 3 days on Campus and 2 days from home. Interested candidates:

Submit your CV and a link to your online portfolio (Behance, personal website or PDF). Please note: applications without a design portfolio will not be considered.

Application Question(s):

  • Do you have a diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a closely related design discipline
  • Do you have a minimum of 2–3 years' professional experience in a dedicated graphic design role, within a design studio, advertising agency or in-house design team?
  • Provide evidence of a strong portfolio of original work demonstrating concept development, typography, layout and brand work across print and digital — applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
