Role Overview

LW Recruitment Consulting is seeking customer-focused Retail Sales Assistants to support day-to-day store operations and deliver a positive shopping experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in presenting products well, and can contribute to achieving sales and service targets in a retail environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping customers find the right products, maintaining store standards, and ensuring the sales floor is organised and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional assistance throughout their shopping experience

• Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products or alternatives

• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system

• Handle customer queries, returns, and exchanges in line with store policies

• Monitor sales levels and report low sales or product issues to the relevant team members

• Support the achievement of individual and sales targets

• Maintain high standards of , cleanliness, and organisation in all customer-facing areas

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily store operations

• Stay informed about current promotions, products, and store initiatives to better support customers

Requirements

• Previous experience in a retail, sales, or customer service role

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• A customer-first approach with the ability to build positive relationships

• Ability to work in a busy sales environment and manage multiple tasks effectively

• Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining store standards

• Reliable, punctual, and professional in presentation and conduct

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required

• Physically able to stand for extended periods

• South African ID or valid legal authorisation to work in South Africa

Nice to Have

• Experience using a point-of-sale system

• Product knowledge within a specific retail, sales or customer services sector

• Proven ability to contribute to or exceed sales targets

Working Environment

This is a fully on-site role based in Johannesburg. Retail Sales Assistants will work directly in-store and should be comfortable engaging with customers throughout the day in a hands-on retail setting.
