Job Description

Standard Bank is the largest bank in Africa and our highly visible brand, award-winning service, and strong global presence helps us maintain our market-leading position. We place huge value on the talent of our people to drive our continued success, and to support our plans for growth.

Standard Bank’s Learnership Programmes are designed to address youth unemployment in South Africa by providing young people with structured, practical work experience alongside formal training, while also building a strong and sustainable talent pipeline of future-ready employees aligned to the bank’s values and business needs.

As part of this development pathway, the Occupational Certificate: Data Science Practitioner qualification serves as the foundational entry-level certification for aspiring internal auditors, combining focused training modules with structured workplace experience to equip candidates with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to start or enhance their careers in internal auditing.

  • Supporting senior team members in defining small, well-scoped data analysis tasks aligned to audit objectives
  • Executing predefined analytical procedures to test specific aspects of audit areas using data (e.g., identifying anomalies and validating controls through datasets)
  • Identifying and highlighting key findings, including control gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction or improved performance
  • Developing and communicating simple, evidence-based recommendations grounded in data analysis
