JUNIOR MICROBIOLOGIST - WALTLOO, PRETORIA

A position is available at a growing company based in Waltloo, Pretoria.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in a Junior Microbiologist role.

Requirements:

* Must reside within 8 km radius of Waltloo (non-negotiable)

* Must have reliable own transport

• Afrikaans and English

* BSc/Btech

* Minimum 1 – 2-year work experience

Job description for Microbiologist:

Independently execute microbiological experiments and routine assays, taking ownership of data accuracy and troubleshooting standard deviations.

Conduct routine microbiological assays, including culture, isolation, and identification of microorganisms.

Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, observations, and results in compliance with regulatory standards.

Analyse experimental data and prepare technical reports for internal and external customers, collaborating with the Senior Microbiologist for final review.

Demonstrate initiative in optimizing existing protocols and developing/validating new microbiological methods under the guidance of the Senior Microbiologist.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute insights and findings to ongoing projects.

Help maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols according to ISO 17025 standards.

Perform microbiological isolation and culturing of microorganisms from raw materials, environmental samples, and production samples.

Maintain microbial cultures, ensuring their viability, purity, and consistency for downstream applications.

Prepare inoculums for industrial-scale fermentations or other production processes, ensuring optimal microbial growth conditions.

Implement and maintain aseptic techniques, laboratory cleanliness, and quality control to ensure the highest standards of microbiological results.

Document experimental protocols, results, and methodologies in a clear and precise manner, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Maintain cleanliness in the lab and follow lab procedures and rules and abide by HAD analytics code of conduct.

Maintain a cleaning in place mindset in the lab and ensure that the lab is kept in a neat and tidy condition.

Assist where possible with basic chemical analyses (NIR, pH etc.) for internal and external customers.

Daily monitoring of all parameters according to ISO 17025 standards and completion of all work documents according to ISO 17025.
