Ba-Phalaborwa Golf Club is looking for a hardworking and dedicated Assistant Greenkeeper to assist with maintaining the golf course to a high standard. The successful candidate will support the Greenkeeping team with daily course maintenance, turf care, irrigation and the safe operation of equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and roughs.
• Carry out mowing, trimming, aeration, rolling and other turf maintenance duties.
• Assist with topdressing, fertilising and turf treatments under supervision.
• Maintain and prepare bunkers to the required standard.
• Operate and assist with the maintenance of golf course machinery and equipment.
• Carry out basic equipment checks, cleaning and reporting of faults.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.
• Identify and report irrigation, drainage and turf-related issues.
• Maintain the golf course to a neat, safe and presentable standard.
• Follow correct procedures when handling fertilisers, chemicals and equipment.
• Ensure all health and safety requirements are followed and PPE is worn when required.
• Assist with maintaining environmentally responsible practices on the golf course.
• Work closely with the Head Greenkeeper and Greenkeeping team.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Previous experience in golf course maintenance or groundskeeping is essential.
• Basic knowledge of turf management, irrigation and landscaping.
• Experience operating gardening or turf maintenance machinery will be advantageous.
• A qualification in Turf Management, Horticulture or a related field will be advantageous.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Pay: R15 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month
