Job description

The University is seeking a highly skilled and proactive individual to coordinate all in-house and outsourced projects within the Mechanical and HVAC Section of the Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will provide administrative and financial support to the Maintenance Manager and serve as the principal liaison between clients and contractors. The role involves offering expert guidance on mechanical and HVAC matters, including cost management, contracts, project oversight, and risk assessment. The incumbent will uphold a strong culture of safety and quality, provide effective leadership to subordinates, and play a key role in Utility and Environmental Management by ensuring utility consumption remains within budget and contributing to the reduction of the campus’s carbon footprint.

Minimum requirements

Matric
N6 National Trade Diploma in Mechanical engineering and relevant Trade Test
5 years post-qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering environment, of which 2 years should be in a supervisory/management role
Computer Literacy

Knowledge of:

OHSA
Statutory requirements of pressure vessels
HVAC Systems
Domestic Heating and Boilers
Safe Handling of Gases
Lifts and Escalators

Short-listed candidates may be required to undertake a skills test.
