Job Advert Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory investigations for new product development projects; operations related projects; and application related projects.
• Evaluate new and alternative raw materials to improve product performance and cost efficiency.
• Support manufacturing operations by investigating process issues and recommending improvements.
• Perform analytical testing and interpretation of data.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, FSSC, GLP, food safety, and quality management requirements.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Assist with monitoring laboratory consumables and reagent inventory.
• Compile technical reports and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to both internal and external customers.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Technical Services, and Quality.

Qualifications

• National Diploma, Advanced Diploma, BTech or BSc in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (essential).
• Grade 12 (Matric).

Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ hands-on laboratory experience as a technician or analyst (essential).
• Experience in a starch wet milling environment will be advantageous.
• Experience in a Product Development environment will be advantageous.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of starch chemistry and starch processing.
• Understanding starch and glucose derivative production.
• Knowledge of wet milling processes.
• Product development experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Planning, organising, and report-writing abilities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret laboratory methods and operate laboratory equipment.
• Ability to analyse and interpret data
