Client Services Specialist – Employee Benefits

GCI Employee Benefits is looking for an experienced Client Services Specialist to support our Benefit Consultants and employer groups.

This role is suited to someone with solid experience in pension fund administration and Employee Benefits insurance. You must understand monthly contribution reconciliations, group risk benefits, claims, medical underwriting and provider administration.

What you will do

  • Assist employers with monthly retirement fund and group risk benefit reconciliations.
  • Check that contribution and premium schedules are aligned with the registered Special Rules and relevant policies.
  • Assist employers and members with withdrawal, retirement and death claims.
  • Follow up with providers to ensure claims are processed and paid on time.
  • Request administration, cash flow, investment holding, claims, underwriting audit and member share-of-fund reports.
  • Compile rebroke information when required.
  • Issue medical underwriting requirements to employers and assist members where necessary.
  • Monitor outstanding underwriting requirements with risk benefit providers.
  • Ensure annual fund and risk benefit statements are issued to clients.
  • Capture compliance documents and administrative tasks accurately on Xplan.
  • Prepare draft agendas, supporting documents and meeting minutes.
  • Issue monthly consulting invoices to employers where applicable.
  • Investigate and resolve client, provider and operational queries.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Client Services Support Team.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with internal processes and controls.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric certificate.
  • At least three years’ experience in pension fund administration.
  • At least three years’ experience in the insurance industry, specialising in Employee Benefits.
  • Practical experience with retirement funds, group risk benefits, reconciliations, claims and underwriting.
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements applicable to Employee Benefits and intermediary services.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Confident working on Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Able to navigate provider websites and client portals.
  • Experience using Xplan or a similar financial services CRM system will be an advantage.

This is not a general administration role. Applicants must have relevant Employee Benefits and pension fund administration experience.
