Job Requirements

Job requirement

• A PhD or equivalent qualification in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field

• Strong academic background in microbiological sciences

• Strong background in biostatistics

• 5 years of proven laboratory experience in microbiological techniques,

• Experience in designing and conducting scientific experiments,

• Data analysis and interpretation skills,

• Experience in quality assurance of epidemiological case report forms

• Published original research on antimicrobial resistance in relevant and reputable peer-reviewed journals

DUTIES

The incumbent will be required to deliver on the following:

• Lead field and laboratory epidemiological and implementation research on community antimicrobial resistance in the context of one-health

• Develop and maintain next-generation sequencing and bioinformatic protocols.

• Generate research outputs through accredited, relevant, and reputable peer-reviewed journals

• Prepare technical research reports

• Supervise, train, and mentor postgraduate students and early-career researchers in line with the human capital development imperatives of the Chair and the University

• Strengthen inter-program linkages and promote interdisciplinary research

• Established new engagements with national and international partners, policy makers, and community stakeholders to enhance research translation

• Support the Chair in the development of research funding applications
