Junior Underwriter – Personal Injury

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Underwriter with direct experience handling personal injury cases to join a US-based organization.

This position is suited to someone who has worked directly with personal injury matters and understands the process of reviewing, assessing and managing personal injury cases.

Please note: General insurance or underwriting experience alone is not sufficient. Candidates must have clear, hands-on personal injury case experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess personal injury cases and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate case details to assist with underwriting and funding decisions.
• Review medical records, treatment information, case documentation and other relevant information.
• Identify potential risks, inconsistencies or missing information within cases.
• Communicate with internal teams regarding case assessments and required documentation.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case records.
• Manage multiple cases while meeting required turnaround times.
• Follow established underwriting and case-review procedures.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have:

• Direct, hands-on experience handling personal injury cases.
• Experience reviewing or managing personal injury case files and documentation.
• A clear understanding of the personal injury case process.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Strong administrative and case-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Ability to work US hours.

Employment Stability

We are looking for candidates with a stable employment history. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated longer-term tenure with previous employers rather than a pattern of multiple short-term positions.

Important Screening Requirement

When applying, your CV must clearly show your personal injury experience, including your responsibilities in handling, reviewing or assessing personal injury cases.

Candidates whose experience is limited to general insurance underwriting, commercial underwriting, customer service or unrelated financial services without direct personal injury case experience will not be considered.

Pay: R9 700,00 - R29 000,00 per month
