Now Hiring: Guest House Manager

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Guest House Manager to manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the guest house and overseeing operations at the owner’s second property in the area as well.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction.

The properties are located in the small mining town of Northam about 50km from Thabazimbi. Guests are offered comfortable and clean accommodation. They are mainly corporates visiting local mines and businesses for work. The guest houses offers breakfast, lunch and dinner on request. This requires the successful candidate to have a good understanding of food and beverage operations.

Key performance areas:

• Day to day management, of the guest house and overseeing operations at the owner’s second property in the area.
• Deal with telephonic and email enquiries from guests, companies and agents.
• Process reservations on Nightsbridge and online travel agents such as Booking.com, Lekkeslaap etc.
• Ensure the property and guest house is maintained in good condition and ensure cleanliness throughout the guest house, setting out the standards of cleaning and conducting inspections of rooms, public areas, and outside areas daily.
• Promoting and marketing the guest house.
• Purchasing and controlling of stock.
• Welcoming guests.
• Dealing with guest complaints and comments.
• Any other reasonable instructions that may be given by the guest house owners from time to time.

Key requirements:

• Must be over the age of 40, single with no dependents.
• Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years relevant hospitality experience as a guest house manager.
• Must have a valid driver's licence and own transport.
• Must be prepared to relocate and live on-site if not already living in Northam.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written.
• Working knowledge of legislation applicable to the hospitality industry.
• Understanding of marketing, sales and online travel agent principles and processes.
• Have a full understanding of operating Nightsbridge and its features - a must.
• Knowledge of updating and maintaining the guest house online travel agent links and social media pages.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Be customer-focused working flexible hours, as and when required, to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at the highest levels.
