About the role

We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on Operations Manager to own the day-to-day running of our short-term lending business as we scale. Working closely with the CEO, you’ll be the operational backbone of the company — building the systems, leading the team, and ensuring every function runs with precision and compliance. This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role at an ambitious fintech during a critical growth phase.

What you’ll own

  • Oversee and coordinate all day-to-day operational functions across lending, collections, and client services
  • Build, document, and continuously improve operational processes and SOPs
  • Lead, manage, and develop the operations team — setting clear goals and holding people accountable
  • Ensure operational compliance with NCR, NCA, and relevant short-term lending regulations
  • Collaborate directly with the CEO on strategic priorities, growth initiatives, and problem-solving
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions to support the business as it grows
  • Report on key operational metrics and flag risks proactively

What we’re looking for

  • 3–6 years of operations management experience, ideally in short-term lending, micro-finance, or financial services
  • Proven ability to build operational systems and processes from scratch — not just maintain existing ones
  • Strong people leadership — you’ve managed teams and you know how to get the best out of people
  • Working knowledge of NCA / NCR compliance requirements in the South African credit landscape
  • A solutions-first mindset — you move fast, think clearly under pressure, and don’t wait to be told
  • High attention to detail and comfort working with data, reporting, and operational dashboards
  • Excellent communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to work across all levels of the business

Nice to have

  • Experience with loan management systems (LMS) or credit origination platforms
  • Exposure to startup or scale-up environments where you’ve had to build as you go
  • Familiarity with SARS requirements relevant to financial services businesses

Pay: R35 000,00 - R50 000,00 per month
