NACOSA is looking for a (M&E) Officer to join our team as part of the SEF Project. The M&E Officer will ensure accurate collection, capturing, and reporting of programmatic data for NACOSA implementing partners. The role includes building M&E capacity and mentoring implementing partners to strengthen data quality and reporting systems.
The duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer will include, but not limited to:
- Review IP monthly reports for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness; address data gaps or errors and alert managers to major issues.
- Clean and correct raw data, maintain oversight of electronic data systems, and contribute to updating data collection tools.
- Ensure IPs use standardized data collection tools consistently and maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly data verification, including extensive site visits, and provide feedback to IPs and managers.
- Prepare IPs for external audits and verification visits, and recommend methods to improve data quality.
- Mentor and train partners on M&E philosophy, indicators, tools, and systems; provide technical support and represent NACOSA in stakeholder engagements.
- Deliver internal presentations on M&E materials and provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly data analysis to inform programming and funder reporting.
- Assist managers with preparation of reports, presentations, and publications for internal and external audiences.
- Motivate employees, support HR processes (recruitment, orientation, disciplinary, attendance), and implement performance management plans.
- Provide training and mentoring to interns, team leaders, and M&E champions; develop improvement plans and support debriefing sessions.
- Perform ad hoc departmental tasks, support managers in data-related meetings, and stand in for colleagues or supervisors when required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Public Health, or related discipline (preferred); prior relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an M&E function, including monitoring data quality, capacity development of field staff, and coordinating teams.
- Proficiency in English plus one other South African language (African language highly advantageous).
- Valid driver’s license; SAMEA membership advantageous.
- Experience using data management systems and MS Office, with proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
