Job description:

The Restaurant General Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the store-based restaurant by assisting with waiter and cashier duties while delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will ensure customers receive a positive dining experience, assist with food and beverage service, process customer transactions accurately, and work closely with the restaurant team to maintain efficient operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Always provide friendly and professional customer service.

· Assist customers with orders, menu queries, and general requests.

· Serve food and beverages efficiently and accurately.

· Operate the point-of-sales (POS) system and process customer payments.

· Handle cash, card transactions, and daily cash-up procedures accurately.

· Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards in the restaurant and service areas.

· Assist with setting up and clearing tables.

· Support the kitchen and restaurant teams as required to ensure smooth operations.

· Assist with stock replenishment and general housekeeping duties.

· Work effectively as part of a team to deliver excellent customer experience.

· Follow all company policies, food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

· Grade 12 (Matric) will be advantageous.

· Previous experience in a restaurant, cashier, customer service, or retail environment will be advantageous.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills.

· Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

· Reliable, well-presented, and professional.

· Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
