1. JOB PURPOSE

To provide professional, safe, and quality nursing care to patients in accordance with established nursing standards, healthcare facility policies, and the regulations of the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

2. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a minimum of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognised and accredited institution.
• Be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Have a valid SANC registration certificate or other acceptable proof of current registration.
• Possess good communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, or on a contract basis, where required.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to patient safety.

Experience: Relevant nursing experience will be an advantage. Newly qualified nurses who meet the minimum requirements may also apply.

3. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicants will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with professional nursing standards.
• Assessing patients' health conditions and identifying their nursing care needs.
• Administering prescribed medication and treatments safely and accurately.
• Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs and reporting any changes in their condition.
• Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised nursing care plans.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and completing all required nursing documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control procedures.
• Educating patients and their families on health, treatment, and disease prevention.
• Collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
• Upholding patient dignity, confidentiality, and ethical nursing practices.
• Complying with healthcare facility policies, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable legislation.
• Reporting incidents, clinical risks, and patient safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
