Restaurant Manager Assistant jobs

Mont Marie Restaurant is looking for a reliable, organised and hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team.

This position will work closely with the General Manager and will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the restaurant. We are looking for someone who can take initiative, stay organised and confidently assist with both administrative responsibilities and the operational side of the restaurant.

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail and is comfortable taking responsibility when the restaurant is busy.

Key Responsibilities

Administration & Operations

• Assist the General Manager with day-to-day restaurant administration.
• Assist with daily reports, paperwork, bookings and general operational follow-ups.
• Assist with stock control, stock counts and ordering where required.
• Assist with POS, cash-ups and daily operational procedures.
• Help ensure that restaurant standards, checklists and procedures are consistently followed.
• Assist with planning and coordinating functions, special events and busy trading days.
• Communicate with suppliers, staff and management when required.
• Identify operational issues and follow up to ensure they are resolved.

Floor & Guest Experience

• Work alongside the General Manager on the restaurant floor during busy services.
• Regularly check on tables and ensure guests are happy with their experience.
• Assist with guest queries, requests and complaints in a professional manner.
• Ensure smooth communication between the kitchen, bar and front-of-house team.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Step in wherever needed during busy services to keep the operation running smoothly.

Staff & Team Support

• Assist with supervising and supporting the front-of-house team.
• Help ensure staff maintain professional service and presentation standards.
• Assist with staff training, briefings and day-to-day guidance.
• Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional working environment.
• Assist the General Manager with managing the team during busy weekends and functions.

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
• Previous supervisory or management experience will be advantageous.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Computer literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with POS systems is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Professional, well-presented and reliable.
• Able to remain calm and organised in a busy environment.
• Comfortable working weekends, public holidays and functions.
• A genuine interest in hospitality and providing excellent guest service.

The Right Person

We are looking for someone who is committed, dependable and willing to get involved.

This is not a position where you will spend the entire day behind a desk. You will work closely with the General Manager and will be expected to move between administration, planning and hands-on restaurant operations depending on what the day requires.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can see what needs to be done and take action without always needing to be asked.

Pay: R15 000,00 - R20 000,00 per month

Work Location: In person
