We are looking for a driven, hands-on Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our restaurant in Kyalami. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, maintaining high food quality and service standards, leading the restaurant team, and ensuring effective stock and cost control.

This role is ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who combines strong leadership and operational skills with commercial awareness and a passion for customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Coordinate front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure efficient, seamless service.
• Maintain high standards of food presentation, service delivery and restaurant cleanliness.
• Manage reservations, customer flow and functions where required.
• Identify and report equipment faults and maintenance requirements.

Team Leadership and Staff Management

• Develop staff schedules and allocate duties according to operational requirements.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality and individual performance.
• Train, coach and develop employees on service standards, restaurant procedures and workplace policies.
• Conduct team briefings and support recruitment, onboarding and employee development.
• Address employee concerns and disciplinary matters in consultation with HR.

Customer Experience

• Ensure customers receive a welcoming, professional and consistent dining experience.
• Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to service delivery.
• Build positive relationships with regular customers and encourage repeat business.

Stock and Cost Control

• Monitor stock levels and coordinate orders with approved suppliers.
• Oversee stock counts, deliveries, storage and stock rotation.
• Minimise food wastage, breakages, stock losses and unnecessary expenditure.
• Monitor food, beverage and labour costs against agreed targets.

Financial Administration and Sales

• Oversee point-of-sale transactions, cash handling and daily reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and ensure accurate operational reporting.
• Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, expenses and stock movements.

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Maintain food hygiene, cleaning and workplace safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with safe food handling and storage procedures.
• Identify and address operational risks and report incidents promptly.
• Maintain relevant operational and compliance records.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• At least 3 years' experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Proven experience managing staff, stock, cash handling and customer complaints.
• Working knowledge of restaurant point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and workplace health and safety practices.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Reliable transport or the ability to travel reliably to Kyalami.
