Job Purpose

To assist the Hot Section team with the preparation, cooking, plating, and serving of hot food while maintaining high standards of hygiene, food quality, and kitchen safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing ingredients for hot dishes.
• Follow recipes and instructions from the Kitchen Manager
• Prepare basic hot food such as sauces, vegetables, starches, meats, and other menu items as required.
• Assist with cooking and plating dishes according to the required standards.
• Keep the workstation clean, organised, and properly stocked.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
• Store food correctly and label products according to kitchen procedures.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing kitchen supplies.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Minimise food waste and use ingredients correctly.
• Work as part of the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Carry out any other reasonable kitchen duties assigned by the Chef.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking.
• Hospitality or culinary training is an advantage but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and develop kitchen skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Good personal hygiene and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift and carry kitchen supplies when required.
• Comfortable working in a hot and busy kitchen environment.

Applicants with less than 2 years experience in a similar position and no credible/contactable references will not be considered.
