Job Purpose

The Part-Time Waiter & Bar Attendant is responsible for delivering an exceptional luxury dining experience by providing professional, attentive, and personalised customer service while preparing and serving beverages in accordance with Ladurée's international standards. The role requires maintaining the highest levels of hospitality, presentation, food safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Welcome guests warmly and professionally.
  • Escort guests to their tables where applicable.
  • Present menus and provide detailed knowledge of menu items, beverages, pastries and Ladurée products.
  • Make recommendations and upsell menu items where appropriate.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders.
  • Serve food and beverages according to Ladurée service standards.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate where necessary.
  • Process bills accurately and efficiently.
  • Thank guests and ensure they leave with a positive impression of the brand.

Bar Duties

  • Prepare coffees, teas, cold beverages, mocktails and alcoholic beverages according to company recipes and standards.
  • Maintain consistency in beverage quality and presentation.
  • Ensure bar equipment is clean, operational and properly maintained.
  • Replenish bar stock and supplies.
  • Monitor beverage inventory and report shortages.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area throughout the shift.
  • Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service regulations.

Food & Beverage Standards

  • Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.
  • Ensure food and beverages are served promptly and correctly.
  • Verify order accuracy before serving guests.
  • Handle guest dietary requirements and allergies carefully.
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge.

Cash Handling

  • Process POS transactions accurately.
  • Handle cash, card and digital payments responsibly.
  • Balance tills where required.
  • Report discrepancies immediately.

Housekeeping & Cleanliness

  • Maintain a clean dining room and bar area at all times.
  • Set up and clear tables efficiently.
  • Polish cutlery, glassware and crockery.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Ensure all work areas comply with health and safety standards.

Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen, pastry, bar and front-of-house teams.
  • Support colleagues during busy periods.
  • Attend training sessions and team meetings.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all staff members.

Brand Representation

  • Uphold the Ladurée brand image through professional behaviour.
  • Wear the prescribed uniform and maintain excellent personal grooming.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, integrity and professionalism at all times.
  • Promote Ladurée products and seasonal offerings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Previous experience in a restaurant, café, hotel or luxury hospitality environment preferred.
  • Barista or bartender experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable transport is advantageous.
