Job Description: Fine Dining Waiter

Department: Food & BeverageReporting to: Restaurant Manager / Head Waiter

1. Position Overview

The Fine Dining Waiter is responsible for delivering exceptional five-star service, ensuring every guest receives a personalised, professional and memorable dining experience. The role requires strong food and beverage knowledge, excellent communication skills and a thorough understanding of fine dining service standards and etiquette.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, attentive and personalised five-star guest service.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menus, ingredients, preparation techniques and food provenance.
• Confidently explain dishes, tasting menus and culinary concepts.
• Recommend wines and beverages, including appropriate food and wine pairings.
• Perform professional wine presentation, opening, decanting and service.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Ensure restaurant setup, table presentation and service stations meet the highest standards.
• Handle guest requests, dietary requirements and complaints professionally.
• Drive food and beverage sales through informed recommendations and upselling.
• Follow restaurant SOPs, hygiene standards and operational procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen, bar and restaurant management teams.

3. Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in luxury hospitality or fine dining.
• Strong knowledge of fine dining service standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional grooming and presentation.

Advantageous:

• WSET Level 1, 2 or 3.
• Cape Wine Academy qualification.
• Sommelier training or certification.
• CATHSSETA Hospitality Qualification.
• City & Guilds Food & Beverage Service.
• Cocktail and mixology training.
• Food Safety and Hygiene certification.

Pay: R8 400,00 - R10 000,00 per month
