The Robotic Welder Programmer will be responsible for developing, programming, testing, and maintaining robotic welding cells to meet production, quality, and safety standards. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to optimize welding processes and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize robot programs for MIG, TIG, spot, and stud welding robots using Teach Pendant and Virtual Pendant systems.
• Develop welding parameters, torch/payload offsets, tool center point (TCP) calibrations, and weld seam tracking as required.
• Translate engineering drawings and welding procedures into repeatable, automated robotic processes.
• Perform simulation and off-line programming using specialized software.
• Troubleshoot robot programs, sensors, vision systems, and welding power source integration, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Provide ongoing training and technical support to machine operators and maintenance staff.
• Ensure strict compliance with welding standards, safety regulations, and company quality management systems.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience with robotic welding in a production or R&D environment (or equivalent welding experience combined with demonstrable laser training).
• In-depth familiarity with laser types and welding modes, including continuous, pulsed, conduction, and keyhole.
• Strong ability to read and accurately interpret technical engineering drawings and welding procedures.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools and quality inspection methods.
• Demonstrated experience setting and optimizing laser parameters, as well as utilizing fixturing and robotic positioning systems (preferred).
• A basic understanding of metallurgy, specifically regarding weldability and heat-affected zone considerations.
• Solid computer literacy for logging operational parameters and accessing digital documentation.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment and accommodate potential shift work based on production schedules.

Total Cost to Company - Max R40 000 subject to experience
