The senior general manager (SGM) holds full operational and commercial responsibility for Grand Style Hiring. This is a senior leadership role, requiring a capable, commercially minded individual who can stabilise, professionalise, and grow the business.
The SGM will act as the day-to-day decision-maker, overseeing a small team, systems, finances, sales, and operations, while working closely with the owner. This role is suited to someone who can run the small business as if it were their own, with accountability for profitability and performance.
This role is suited to a results-driven leader who is serious about running and growing a small business. It is not a junior position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in rebuilding, stabilising, and scaling Grand Style Hiring alongside the owner.
Key responsibilities – detailed scope
1. Operations and team leadership
Oversee all daily operations including warehouse, logistics, deliveries, collections, admin, and event setups.
Lead and manage all staff: drivers, warehouse staff, admin, sales assistants, and freelancers where applicable.
Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for each team member.
Conduct structured performance reviews, manage underperformance, and implement corrective action when required.
Manage staff scheduling, leave planning, overtime, and workflow systems.
Ensure company assets (stock, vehicles, equipment) are managed correctly and losses are minimised.
Maintain discipline, professionalism, and a results-driven company culture.
Outcome Expected: A structured, accountable, and productive team operating efficiently.
2. Financial performance, sales and profitability
Take full ownership of monthly revenue targets, expenses, and profitability.
Analyse sales performance and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and growth opportunities.
Actively drive new sales across corporate clients, venues, hotels, event planners, weddings, and long-term contracts.
Ensure all quotes are strategically priced, profitable, and aligned with company margins.
Closely monitor expenses and implement cost controls without compromising service delivery.
Review monthly income vs expenses and report directly to the owner with clear insights and action plans.
Outcome Expected: Consistent monthly profitability, controlled costs, and sustainable revenue growth.
3. Long-term client growth
Identify and secure long-term, repeat clients (venues, hotels, corporates, planners, hospitality partners).
Build strong professional relationships that convert into recurring business.
Negotiate and manage long-term agreements where possible.
Ensure exceptional service delivery to retain clients.
Represent the company professionally in meetings, site visits, and negotiations.
Outcome expected: A stable base of loyal clients and predictable recurring income.
4. Marketing oversight
Oversee marketing initiatives with a focus on lead generation and conversion.
Ensure social media platforms are active, professional, and brand-aligned.
Plan seasonal campaigns, promotions, and product highlights.
Hold team members accountable for marketing output and results.
Monitor enquiries, engagement, and conversion metrics.
