Social Development jobs

We are seeking an experienced Development / Social Facilitation Expert to provide specialist development and social facilitation services in support of infrastructure delivery programmes and projects.

The successful candidate will facilitate effective engagement between project teams, municipalities, communities, stakeholders and other affected parties to support successful infrastructure delivery.

Mandatory Professional Registration

Applicants must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).

SACSSP registration is mandatory.

Minimum Experience – Mandatory

Applicants must have at least 10 years' post-registration experience in:

• Development Facilitation; and/or
• Social Facilitation

on public or private sector infrastructure delivery programmes and projects in South Africa or internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide development and social facilitation support to infrastructure projects.
• Facilitate engagement with communities and affected stakeholders.
• Support effective communication between project teams, municipalities and communities.
• Identify and assess stakeholder and community needs and concerns.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and engagement processes.
• Support community participation in infrastructure delivery initiatives.
• Assist in identifying and resolving social issues that may affect project implementation.
• Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Support project teams in managing community-related risks.
• Facilitate communication relating to project activities and implementation.
• Assist with stakeholder mapping and engagement planning.
• Prepare social facilitation reports and stakeholder engagement records.
• Support municipalities and project teams in addressing community concerns.
• Promote inclusive and constructive stakeholder participation throughout project implementation.

Required Experience and Skills

• Extensive development and/or social facilitation experience.
• Demonstrated experience on infrastructure delivery programmes or projects.
• Experience working with public-sector and/or private-sector infrastructure projects.
• Strong community engagement and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage sensitive stakeholder and community issues.
• Strong facilitation and conflict-resolution capabilities.
• Good report-writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary infrastructure teams.
