2. Key Performance Areas (KPAs) 2.1 Technical Analysis & Solution Support • Translate product requirements into clear, technically feasible specifications. • Support refinement sessions by identifying dependencies, constraints, and technical risks, consistent with Spur’s Scrum/Kanban process. • Work with vendors and engineering teams to validate solution approaches. • Provide technical leadership to team members through coaching and mentorship • Enforce high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits • Collaborate with other software developers, technical product managers, product owners, and business owners to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain business applications • Ensure that the team builds applications in accordance with agreed best practices and standards around security, scalability, operations, and testing 2.2 Backlog Maturity & Technical Readiness • Ensure stories meet “Definition of Ready” (acceptance criteria, testability, dependencies). • Assist Product in maintaining 2 sprint cycles of mature backlog, as defined in Spur’s Scrum ways of- working-. • Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements, development of user stories, estimates, and work plans • 2.3 Vendor & Engineering Coordination • Coordinate with external developers and engineering partners to ensure accurate understanding of requirements. • Monitor adherence to Spur’s delivery and quality standards. • Support vendor communication and clarify technical questions early, reducing rework. 2.4 Testing, Quality & Release Support • Work with QA/Test resources to ensure test cases reflect business and system requirements. • Validate technical changes in staging/UAT environments. • Assist with change, release, and deployment cycles, aligned to Spur’s IT processes. • Support documentation updates (SOPs, user guides, technical notes), consistent with analyst patterns. 2.5 Operational Alignment & Issue Resolution • Support investigation of production issues, root cause identification, and vendor escalation. • Ensure problem prevention methods and diagnostic insights are documented and shared across teams. • Analyze and resolve technical and application problems • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties • Enable the team to reduce tech debt, automate mundane work, reduce hot desk workload, and build systems for success 3. Duties & Responsibilities Daily • Clarify user stories and technical tasks with Product managers and application vendors. • Participate in daily stand-ups and contribute to issue resolution. • Ensure blockers are escalated and addressed quickly. Weekly • Participate in refinement, priority planning, and backlog grooming sessions. • Review technical deliverables for completeness and alignment. • Coordinate with Restaurant IT, Data, and Marketing where cross-functional dependencies exist. Monthly • Review delivery progress with Product and provide technical insights for roadmap planning. • Evaluate key vendor performance on delivery quality and timelines. • Update technical documentation and design notes. Quarterly • Support quarterly architecture and roadmap reviews. • Consolidate recurring issues and technical debt themes for CIO/Product leadership.
Minimum Requirements Education • Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering preferred. • Agile/Scrum certifications advantageous. Experience • 3–5 years in a technical delivery, systems analysis, or software implementation role. • Experience leading and managing a team of engineers on complex software projects • Experience interacting with developers or technical vendors. • Experience with creating APIs and using databases (relational & non-relational) • Experience influencing a team of developers to deliver highly available and scalable solutions • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations • Experience with cloud service providers like GCP/AWS/Azure 5. Skills & Competencies Technical Competencies • Understanding of APIs, integrations, and system behaviour • Basic understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery frameworks • Ability to read functional specifications and simple technical diagrams • Experience with backlog management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, similar) Behavioural Competencies • Strong communication across technical & non-technical groups • A solutions-oriented, can-do attitude and high-energy • Strong analytical and critical thinking, using data to inform decisions • Structured problem solving and high attention to detail • Comfortable with rapidly changing and/or loosely defined requirements that are refined over time • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-changing work -environment • Passion for learning new skills and appreciation for inventing and simplifying • A curious thinker who understands technical topics beyond the average reader
