Supply Chain Production Materials Planner

Location: Pretoria (Sunderland Ridge), Position Type: Permanent

Are you an experienced planning professional ready to elevate your career with a leading South African FMCG manufacturer? Amka Products is looking for a highly analytical and proactive production materials planner to join our materials management team.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing optimised production schedules that balance demand, capacity, and inventory targets in a fast-paced environment. You will ensure the seamless flow of materials and finished goods through the supply chain—delivering high service levels while minimising waste and operational risk.

Essential minimum requirements:

5+ years of FMCG manufacturing materials planning experience and strong SAP ERP and MRP expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop daily, weekly, and monthly plans aligned with demand forecasts and capacity constraints. Optimize sequencing to min-imize changeovers and downtime.
• Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Run and analyze MRP to ensure timely raw and packaging material availability while maintaining accurate planning master data.
• Demand & Forecast Integration: Translate statistical forecasts and commercial in-puts into executable schedules, factoring in promotional spikes and new product launches.
• Inventory & Service Level Management: Balance service level targets (OTIF) with working capital objectives, managing safety stock to prevent stock-outs or excess in-ventory.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams, actively participating in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycles.
• Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto) to drive planning accuracy and migrate manual processes into ERP-driven workflows.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years of production planning experience within an FMCG manufac-turing environment (preferably high-volume, multi-SKU sectors such as personal care or household goods).
• Technical Expertise: Advanced ERP/MRP proficiency with deep SAP working knowledge (Su-per-User level capability strongly preferred) and Advanced Excel.
• Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of capacity planning, finite sequencing, and end-to-end supply chain flow. Proven track record in balancing manufacturing and logistics costs with service levels.
• Core Attributes: Calm under pressure, proactive communication skills, acute detail orientation, and big-picture strategic thinking.
