The Golf Clubhouse Waiter is responsible for providing exceptional, friendly, and attentive front-of-house service to members, guests, and visitors. The role ensures seamless daily dining operations, accurate order taking, prompt food and beverage delivery, and adherence to high hygiene and presentation standards, contributing to an elite clubhouse guest experience.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Service & Relationship Delivery

• Guest Greeting: Welcome all visiting and returning guests with a sincere, friendly, and professional demeanor aligned with club values.
• Floor Visibility: Remain visible and attentive in dining and seating areas to anticipate guest needs throughout their visit.
• Menu Knowledge & Recommendations: Stay fully informed about the current A la Carte menu, blackboard specials, wine list, and beverage offerings. Guide guests through selections and communicate specials in detail.
• Guest Communication: Keep clients informed of out-of-stock items, daily specials, or any expected kitchen or bar delays.
• Complaint Handling: Address customer queries or complaints immediately and professionally, escalating difficult situations to management when necessary.

Service Preparation & Setup

• Station Setup: Ensure dining areas and tables are accurately set up for daily service and special events with clean cutlery, crockery, glassware, and condiments.
• Cleaning & Polishing: Polish glasses and cutlery after every shift and remove/report any broken, chipped, or tarnished items.
• Bookings & Function Awareness: Familiarize yourself with daily reservations, large group bookings (15+ guests), and special events or golf functions to prepare for specific guest requirements.
• Take-Away Orders: Assist in taking, packaging, quality-controlling, and garnishing take-away orders from phone order to collection.

FOH Service Execution

• Order Accuracy: Take food and beverage orders accurately, ensuring they are entered into the POS system correctly according to guest requests and company standards.
• Speed of Service: Serve food and drinks timeously once ready, ensuring correct plate presentation, aesthetics, and appropriate accompaniments are delivered to the correct tables without delay.
• Billing & Payment: Present bills and complete payment processing promptly (within company service standards) to ensure a lasting positive final impression.
• Cross-Departmental Coordination: Liaise closely with the kitchen, bar, and senior management regarding large groups, dietary requirements, and special event setups.

Stock Care & Cost Management

• Upselling: Actively promote and upsell daily specials, beverages, and menu items.
• Waste & Breakage Reporting: Report any broken items, stock irregularities, or waste immediately to management.

Self-Management & Teamwork

• Schedules & Punctuality: Check weekly shift rosters on the shared drive and WhatsApp groups; arrive on time and communicate availability proactively.
• Timesheet Administration: Ensure daily sign-offs on timesheets and clocked overtime are completed with the duty manager.
• Team Collaboration: Practice common courtesy, mutual respect, and teamwork in line with club values and culture.
• Continuous Improvement: Request additional training when needed, report policy or safety deviances, and assist management with reasonable promotional tasks.

Pay: From R30,23 per hour

Expected hours: 45.0 per week
