What will you do
The Commercial Processing Centre division has a position available for a First Level Underwriter. This positions will be based in Hill on Empire.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that new business, policy amendment and renewal, requests, referred by the distribution officer are vetted and validated according to the Santam underwriting guidelines and where applicable referred back to the broker for correction or referred to the processing department for capturing.
What will make you successful in this role
  • The successful incumbent’s responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Perform 1st level checks on new and existing risks (including renewals) to ensure that mandates are being adhered to
  • To support and assist with up skilling of insurance consultant
  • Identify trends and inaccuracies and take the necessary corrective action
  • Identify training, learning and development interventions
  • Ensure adherence to procedures and client delight, i.e. operate within the SLA’s as defined
  • Follow up on incomplete / outstanding information
  • Control quality of new and existing policies to ensure data integrity and professionalism
  • Report data quality and underwriting irregularities on a daily basis to all relevant parties
  • Audit work done according to best practice
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric
  • FAIS credits: 60 Credits Commercial
  • Proven work experience in commercial policy administration and underwriting within the short-term insurance industry
  • Minimum 3 year of experience in a commercial lines environment within the short-term insurance industry will be advantageous
